It goes without saying that this isn't the only reason for our existence. There are lots of other things we could be doing too.
This is just an opportunity that has presented itself, which provides a focus for anyone who finds it interesting.
If anyone at the Moot, or from Earth Spirit, does show any interest in pursuing this issue, then encourage them to sign up, and we can discuss some options, at leisure, on here.

I will definitely give it a mention for you tonight. I believe that someone who may be there tonight goes to Earth Spirit, so I particularly hope to talk with them for you. If not I definitely have another contact who attends there who I'll have a chat with.

Mentioned to all present and advised that they could sign up and contribute to this discussion should they wish to.
Asked our friendly neighbourhood Coventry Earth Spirit rep gus-hawk who I believe will raise this matter for you over there!

Don't get disheartened! There's two of us if we can agree on a way of going about it! Even if no others were interested something would be possible.

I've already got some plans.
I just want to see what the support is like. It's early days yet, too.
I've been wondering why Wikipedia has no reference to the definitive account in the British History Online website, or indeed any suggestion that there many have been pagan origins, or any suggestion of connections to witchcraft.
Even if not proven, those theories are in other reputable books, such as those written by Ronald Hutton, who has his own page on Wiki.
It's almost as though someone with a strong Christian belief and no moral scruples, about being 'economical with the truth' (euphemism for a liar), has been trying to ensure that the church's Medieval doctrine is maintained.

I support your spirit of enquiry Rob. Have you thought about writing a book about this?
With so many cultural, historical, political and religious elements intertwined here I fear twould be rather tricky to find a concensus amongst any group of individuals, so am inclined to think maybe you could spearhead things yourself?

Have you thought about writing a book about this... maybe you could spearhead things yourself? Those are good ideas. Though there's not enough material here to write a book, and, in any case, I haven't got the patience. I do keep a Book of Shadows, which is a different thing. With the 'web', it's not that difficult to publicise ideas. For example, and as you know, Witchvox is a world-wide pagan web. It would be quite easy to tidy up the intitial post on here, and get it published on there. Witchvox say they have a hundred or so essays waiting in the queue, so the time to publication tends to be around 2-3 months. It's an attractive possibility. I've just been having a look at Earth Spirit's website. I might just touch base with them myself. It seems a bit rude to pass anything on to them third hand. Though I doubt if they'll have very much more to say.

There's a fair few other Pagan networking sites too. I had a reasonable look into it when I first started this site, to try and get links on moot listing pages. I have been meaning to post reciprocal links on the "Links" section of www.rugbypagans.org.uk for a while now. I'll try and get around to doing it soon, in case these are any use to you. As regards Earth Spirit, there's two side to every coin. I had thought it might be better to approach through a mutual friend of both parties, but I see your point too.

Thanks.
I've got the itch to write something.
Where would be a good starting point?
Merry Meet looked promising. You can sign up, and post something, almost immediately.

To be honest I don't know. That's just the full list of sites I looked at in terms of advertising this site and moot. I was only really aware of Witchvox myself, so I Googled to see where else I may want to advertise. Living away from my PC a lot of the week I barely have time to do the updating I need to do to my own site never mind check any others. The Merry Meet would have stood out to me too I think, just from the brief impression I got. I hope you'll find them useful. If you find any gems amongst them you'll have to let me know!

There was a double-page centre-spread article in last night's Coventy Telegraph (Monday), about the loss of Coventry's Heritage. This article is mainly concerned with the loss of old buildings. There are 5 pages about this on the Telegraph's website: www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/2011/01/17/coventry-fails-to-treasure-its-historic-buildings-92746-28000593/The article ends by asking Telegraph readers to write in, with their views and suggestions. It seems to me that this is an ideal opportunity to raise a few questions, and to get Lady Godiva onto the agenda. I've given Gary Hall, at Coventry Earth Spirit, the information, and suggested that some people from Coventry Earth Spirit should write in, preferably in a personal capacity, and raise the issue about the loss of meaning about Lady Godiva, and get this onto the agenda.
