GOOD or EVIL.....Which side are you on.....? That's an extremely good question, Cuckoo. It will be interesting to hear other people's views...

GOOD or EVIL.....Which side are you on.....? This makes things sound very black and white. It makes me ask 'what about all the shades of grey inbetween?' Also what is the fascination of choosing a side? How about being neutral and following the natural order of things? There needs to be balance in the world for it to function properly, for example some seeds need the intensity of a forest fire to be able to germinate. So from destruction comes life. Now dont get me wrong im not advocating that people go around destroying things but sometimes what appears to be bad actually isnt. In regards to coincidences i believe everything happens for a reason and it is all part of a bigger picture or web of life . Sometimes they appear inconsequential and like they have no meaning at all and you will shrug it off. However i think that is just because you dont see the bigger picture until much later if at all. I agree Merro. There is much in life that is grey. Good and evil is a curious distinction in pretty much anything.

That's a very good reply, Merro.
I think that Cuckoo's question is a very interesting question, not because anyone's answer will actually tell us a great deal about the nature of good and evil. But because the answer that a person gives tells us an awful lot about the person giving the answer.

I think that Cuckoo's question is a very interesting question, not because anyone's answer will actually tell us a great deal about the nature of good and evil. But because the answer that a person gives tells us an awful lot about the person giving the answer. I don't see any need to judge a person based on a reply on an internet message board. Less still to make it known that you are doing so. I don't view my own opinion as a superior one, it's just the one that is right for me. Even that might be transient. The great thing about internet message boards is that when all the users can post freely without judgement we can find people who we agree with and all the benefits that brings. We can also meet people whose opinion differs. They might change our mind, they might not. Either way that's a learning experience. This message board and the Rugby Pagans Moot are and will be places where people can interact without fear of being judged. To judge someone in spiritual/religious terms based on your own beliefs is like trying to measure height in kilograms.

Has the Cuckoo flown the nest?
His posts all seem to have disappeared!
This would be a thread about Fate, and whatever happened, the Cuckoo's brief appearance seems to have had the unfortunate consequence of fatefully putting Scruffy on the spot.
Scruffy, to continue the discussion... there is no right or wrong answer. It's about HOW a person answers the question, that tells us about the person.
The 'Cuckoo' posed a question. I answered the 'Cuckoo', albeit with a cunning answer. Then Merro gave a sensible answer. Merro didn't just say yes or no. She gave us some of her views about nature, being red in tooth and claw. Nature knows nothing about good or evil. Merro's viewpoint is a classic pagan view about nature. This is what I mean about a person's answer telling us about the person.
As another example, take the story of Harry Potter. In that story, there are two groups of children - Harry's group, and Malfoy's group. In real life, some kids prefer Harry, and some prefer Malfoy. In an interview, J K Rowling noted that, among some groups of children, Malfoy is the more popular character.
Now Scruffy, which group would you like to be in, and WHY? The actual answer - Harry or Malfoy - is not as important as the REASONS why a person makes one choice or the other. Simply thinking about such questions - WHY a person leans towards Harry, or WHY they lean towards Malfoy - will help a person to learn more about themselves.

1. Cuckoo deleted his own posts. This can be evidenced and occurred at 10:11pm and 10:13pm yesterday. I do not feel remotely put on the spot by this.
2. Your need to "explain" your point about the answer to the question as if I haven't understood you is condescending.
3. I had not wished to conduct the conversation about the previous complaints, by other members, about your posts in private but since you have effectively compelled me to defend my position in public so be it. More than half the membership of the board have complained about your general posting style and / or the way you have addressed them since this forum was started. A number of these have stated they no longer post because of this. Common comments are that your posts are patronising, deliberately vague and that it seems this is to seek attention and / or appear intellectually superior. I suspect this is what you term "cunning" in your last post.
4. This was initially handled through the board's private message system. You did not modify your style. Instead you replied with a frankly spurious complaint about another poster. You are the only member to complain about this user. Having contacted me as board admin with this complaint you then called me "petty" for passing this complaint on, despite the fact that I did not disclose your name. To ensure the numerous members that have complained about you were aware that I took their feelings seriously I then posted on this thread. I did so reluctantly but you had failed to show that you took the feelings of others seriously. Again your response was to continue to patronize others and to congratulate yourself on your own previous posts.
5. The situation regarding these complaints is actually affecting my day to day life. I have to handle complaints online, at the moot and away from the internet and the Pagan scene. Often when I spend time with people registered on this board they feel they need to raise this issue with me. I am a family man, with a full time job who started Rugby Pagans as a fun, friendly place for local Pagans. Constantly fielding complaints about your posts is detracting from my fun. I don't have time for it and I will not be engaging in this or any other internet squabble. I have better things to do than type this message ever again.
6. I know nothing of Harry Potter and you can decide whether I am good or evil. As for what side I am on, I am on the side of my Gods, I am on my own side, I am on the side of my family and friends and I am on the side of everyone who wants to connect through Rugby Pagans in a friendly, open and honest way. This includes you if this is what you want. You would however have to use this board in a way which takes on board the feelings of others as they have been expressed to you several times.
I am not debating this. You either use the board in a manner that is acceptable to the majority of the other users, or you don't use it.
