I know we're not in Iceland but I don't know whether or not there are any followers of the Norse God's amongst us. I came across an article about an Icelandic heathen who was buried 1,100 years late. I can't decide whether the method was valid historical education or pure disrespect. www.icelandreview.com/icelandreview/daily_news/?cat_id=16568&ew_0_a_id=370909I know Pagan bones can be a controversial subject within the British Pagan community and I wondered what anyone else's take on this is. To expand on this within our own country's Pagan community see this video: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/8530281.stmI shall be interested in your replies!

My own personal beliefs are it doesn't matter. The body is a shell for your life. When I die I want to go to one of those woodland graveyards with nothing but a tree to mark me (haven't decieded the tree yet). That is only because it will protect the trees for a good length of time because of the people buried under them. Back to subject it would depenend on the beliefs of the person who was buried. Which this late on in time we would never know. So you could never respectfully rebury them as they as the people they were with the beliefs they held. Their are long gone and moved onto what or wherever their next level is. The best of luck to them! I think they should have never been moved from where they where they were buried in the first place. Ce la ve!

Two questions spring to mind, as I agree with a lot of what you say but have problems reconciling these two items with my own opinion:
1. Would you be happy for your own remains to be held in a museum, when there is no scientific value to them, on the premise that some scientific oppotunity might or might not present itself in the future?
2. Do you believe in the spirit world (ghosts etc.) on any level, if so what do you think they are?

Hello Mr brook by all means... I would be upset for the fact they would have had to kill my tree [sad face] or the wood that I am buried in to get to my bones. But The bodies a shell.. I wouldn't need it anymore!! Do what they like with it! That's a bit of a heavy question! Yes I do, but feck knows what they are or why they hang around. They are just what they are. I don't know. I wouldn't even try to form an opinion or belief on this question. They should have never dug em up in the first place!

I too would have no objections for the reason watergypsy states above. I would argue that there is scientific value purely from the point of view that allowing the remains to be viewed would increase people’s appreciation for natural history, evolution and anatomy
