I have just emailed The Rugby Advertiser, The Rugby Observer, Rugby FM, Around Rugby and The Rugby Register the attached Press Release with covering letter begging for free publicity! In addition to this (largely mentioned at the last moot) I have undertaken the following promotional activities: 1. Created, maintained and updated www.rugbypagans.org.uk2. Created and administrated this message board 3. Set up a facebook group to allow us to be found by that route 4. Promoted us on Witchvox by means of an Events listing 5. Requested us be added to Pagan Federation website 6. Submitted us for inclusion as of Imbolc in Pagan Dawn Any more suggestions? Attachments:

I have so far received favourable responses from: - The Rugby Observer who wish to do an interview with us / me. - Around Rugby who will list us in their "What's On" section. Very grateful to the publications concerned!

Don't think the new college is open yet. Think they bus them all to Leamington, also its largely an A-Level age crowd, and while I certainly drank in pubs at that age, we maybe shouldn't be being seen to encourage it. Not least by the venue!!

true. Its just that its seems alot of us became interested for the first time or else our interest in paganism grew in our college years. Thought there may be a fair bit of interest. But of course youre right, can.t be seen to be promoting underage drinking!

I see no harm in inviting student-age people really. Summerstorm you're right I think, students are discovering life and using independent thought for the first time in their lives, as long as our promotion is just flag-waving and not evangelising I reckon that's fine.
Leaflets in libraries is a good idea. Where else can we put leaflets? I can get some done very well and very cheap if you want!

Sol I agree in principle and if they find the moot through other means and don't upset our relationship with The Raglan all well and good! It just concerns mean to be seen to be targeting advertising a pub-based event at an almost exclusively young audience. Maybe we could poll the matter at the moot or here on the board. Tell me more about these cheap leaflets!!

Also had a positive response from The Rugby Register, regarding a "What's On" listing.
Thanks to all local media who are giving us invaluable free publicity!

Mmm, I sent a short release to the District Advertisers to go in their 'clubs and activities' section - they didn't reply so we'll see if they just include us or ignore us!

Wow.. lots going on! I love the leaflets in the library books idea! - if we could deciede on the info that needs to be on the leaflets we could all draw a few up and bring them along to the next moot. With the college perhaps there is someway of targeting the mature students (which are classed as anyone over 18) of which there was a lot when I went there.

I actually liked your idea at the moot of only advertising the website on the flyers for the college. You're much more arty than me so I probably won't try designing the flyers, but if you and anyone else want to bring some ideas to the moot I would be very grateful!

Ahhh give it a go! You'll be surprised! Everyone has it in them, they just have to find their own style!
But for myself and the flyers i am going to make (may help others) Could I please have a nudge in the right direction of the sort of information that needs to be on them (library and college) I am not very good with language and I'd really apprieciate some kind of direction on what to write. Fanking the people!!

I don't have any experience in active public promotion. But I've always been under the impression that Christians in the community can get very aggessive. I'm just sort of envisaging a militant Christian coming across one of these leaflets in the libary, and having a tandrum. These adverts in the press might possibly attract angry letters. But I have no idea. Those are just 'folk tales'. That's entirely the reason why so many people are 'closet' pagans. It'll be interesting to see what the public reaction is. Valid points. I have considered these things, and The Mail pieces. I just can't see a better way of reaching the Pagans in the immediate area than through the local media. It's tomorrow's chip paper and all that... It's a one off thing I am not going to be pursuing media involvment at every turn. BTW the library leaflet thing related to an idea discussed at the moot and involved flyering mind, body, spirit books to reach the right audience.

Also I will publish the agreed moot responses here to allow comparison to what is actually published.
I hope (and believe it or not trust) it won't be too different.
