We're a border morris dancing side based in Kings Heath, Birmingham composed of members of the pagan moots of Birmingham and we're available for dance outs at any event you might be organising ... So far we've done charity collection days, pagan rituals, culture information days, wassails etc. We dance because we love it - so if you have any interesting event then we'll most likely do it for just petrol money (or free if it's sufficiently interesting) Check us out at www.brethrenbordermorris.co.ukOf course we also welcome new pagan members - musicians especially but Rugby is probably a bit far for you to make our practice sessions ... i've just come back from visiting Rugby art gallery and museum. They had a morris and folk tales day today with several morris sides performing, photos and paintings inspired by morris and folk tales much of it created by local students. It was interactive with costumes to try on and the dancers taught those of us that wanted to a few moves. Eleanor and i had a great time. Its a shame i didnt know of your offer before because one of the ladies who was organising the event comes to the rugby moot and I'm sure they would have loved to have you guys there.

Summerstorm, how did I miss the morris dancing and folk tales day! I love morris, is it an annual thing in Rugby?
Marcus, I used to live in the Jewellery Quarter (and Kings Heath) and the best weekend of the year was the Morris Dance Festival, great atmosphere. I can remember it taking place for two years before I left, does it still happen? I'd forgotten about it, I'll come up this year if it does.

I heard about it through facebook as one of the ladies from the moot was exibiting her work.
I'm not sure if they will do another day next year but i do hope so.

I think one thing is that the different Morris sides belong to different unions and they kinda move in their own circles. We're Open Morris so we know other Open Morris sides - but no Morris Fed sides etc. If it's on I'll be there! Marcus

You know the sad thing is that Hayley tells me from this exhibition (I was at the football) that there is only one Morris dancer left in Rugby with no side to dance with!

Marcus, it was/is actually a Council funded Festival (I'm pretty sure it was a way of spending the "English" allocation of the culture budget). There were over 20 sides of all styles dancing in different places in the city centre and parks. Now you've stirred my memory I'm going to look on the BCC website.
Richard, you could always make that morris dancer less sad...
By the way, how do you do that boxy thing?

Richard, you could always make that morris dancer less sad... By the way, how do you do that boxy thing? This boxy thing? If so click quote at the top of the post you wish to quote. If anything I would make Morris Dancer more sad. Especially with my foot in the state it is in at the moment. Also I have heard too many tales from Marcus of people losing teeth to a misplaced stick etc. I like my teeth just where they are thanks. ;D
